Flamingo flower (Anthurium spp) are houseplants in most areas, but may be grown in gardens in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. They have dark green, heart-shaped, leathery leaves and showy spathes that are white, pink or red. The leaves and stems of the plant contain raphides of water-insoluble calcium oxalates and unverified proteinaceous toxins.
